Whitleigh Community Trust is a CIO, formed in 2018 to help support and implement the Whitleigh Big Local community plan. The Trust was created as the legal body of Whitleigh Big Local and employs a development manager plus three other staff to implement local projects, it is also the legacy body for when the Big Local finishes in 2025. Big Local is a national lottery funded programme, where 150 communities in England were each given £1m to use how they wanted over a ten-year period. Residents created a community plan in 2012/13 and the Whitleigh Big Local partnership was founded in 2014. The Trust and the Big Local partnership are resident led entities, run and managed by the local community.
